Rain Deck and our splash pads are featured in the Summer 2015 issue of the ARVC VOICE. The VOICE is a highly informative magazine that ARVC members depend on for ideas and strategies they can use to improve their park operations, as well as updates on association activities, educational insights, supplier information, legislative and regulatory affairs, and trends affecting the RV park and campground industry. Rain Deck was featured in an article about water recreation in camp grounds called “Water, Water Everywhere,” as well as in their Buyer’s Guide.
The VOICE spoke with Rain Deck’s own Ryan Vaughn about splash pads. “Splash pads are zero-depth water attractions that can be installed virtually anywhere. They typically consist of multiple spray jets and/or above-ground spray features. A splash pad can operate on a fresh water system, a grey water system or recirculation system. They tend to be popular with very young children.
‘Campground/RV park owners have found huge benefits in owning a splash pad,’ says Ryan Vaughn of the splash pad company Rain Deck. ‘First of all, they’re safe because there is literally no risk of drownings. They’re also fun. Children love them. Splash pads…. pull every child out of the swimming pool, thus allowing the older customers to enjoy themselves in a splash-free environment. They’re also affordable.’
Vaughn says that a smaller campground that is willing to take on a DIY project may be a perfect candidate for a light commercial splash pad product which can cost as little as $5,000, while a larger facility may want to go with a commercial grade product. He says that most RV parks and campgrounds will spend between $60,000 and $80,000 for a turnkey splash pad. In terms of installation and maintenance, the cost to install a splash pad is a fraction of what it costs to install a pool, and the maintenance costs are minimal as well.”
